Nearman, Magargee Named Academic All-League
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Dec. 6, 2007) - Senior Holly Nearman and junior Erin Magargee of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee have been named to the Horizon League Women's Cross Country Academic All-League Team, the league office announced today. For Nearman, this is her second academic all-league selection in cross country while she also earned the honor for indoor and outdoor track and field last season. Meanwhile, this is the first such honor for Magargee. Nearman had a phenomenal senior season for UWM. In addition to leading the Panthers at every meet she competed, she earned all-league first team honors with a fourth-place finish at the league championships. She then followed that up with a 12th-place finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional. Her performance was the best Division I regional finish in school history and earned her all-region honors. A journalism major, Nearman boasts a 3.651 grade point average. Magargee also earned all-league honors, taking eighth place at the league meet for a spot on the second team. She narrowly missed a first team designation, finishing just six seconds back of seventh place. Magargee is a senior academically. She is a psychology major and has maintained a 3.70 GPA.
