Senior wins league award for second time in her career

MILWAUKEE - Senior Abby Hurst was named Horizon League Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Bradley Invitational Friday, the league office announced Tuesday.

Hurst finished 18th in the field of 207, nearly setting a new personal best in the process. Her time of 18:32 at 5K was just seven seconds off her old mark, set last year at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind.

This marks the second time in her career that Hurst has been honored by the league. She received the league's top weekly honor following her first-place finish at the Valparaiso Invitational on Sept. 7, 2001.

UWM will have their next competition on Sept. 27 when they travel to Detroit, Mich., for the Central Collegiate Championships.
