Panthers Post Second-Best Regional Finish In Team History

Nearman, Huebner each post-10 finishes in school history

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (Nov. 11, 2006) - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's cross country team posted its second-best NCAA Great Lakes Regional finish ever, when it placed 14th among 30 teams, Saturday afternoon in Bowling Green.

The Panthers scored 457 points to edge 15th-place Indiana State by one point. UWM's finish is second only to the 13th-place showing Milwaukee posted in 1998. Michigan State, meanwhile, edged Wisconsin by three points (63-66) for top honors at the meet.

Individually, sophomore Holly Nearman finished 43rd, the fourth-best regional finish in school history, and junior Angie Huebner took 61st, ninth-best. Nearman ran a time of 22:25.75 on the 6000m course to finish the season as the Panthers' leading runner in each meet. Huebner scored in 61st place, taking 64th overall, with a time of 22:45.45.

Milwaukee had three top-100 finishers for the second-straight year, with senior Kourtney Nault taking 90th in 23:12.69. Sophomore Erin Magargee capped a solid second year with a time of 23:46.45 for 124th place. Sophomore Elizabeth Brothen rounded out the scorers in 149th place with a time of 24:13.42.

Sophomore Danielle Magargee and freshman Laura Ring also ran at the meet for UWM, with Magargee taking 167th (24:45.18) and Ring 192nd (25:53.07).
