UWM Women Finish Fourth at Central Collegiates

Hurst again paces women's team with ninth-place finish

MILWAUKEE - The UWM Cross Country teams competed at the Central Collegiate Championships Friday afternoon, with the women's team taking fourth place out of 11 teams. Senior Abby Hurst again paced the women's team, finishing ninth overall in the 88-runner field. Hurst's time was 19:28.

Following shortly after Hurst was junior Alison Shattuck and freshman Katie Anderson. Shattuck placed 11th, just five seconds behind Hurst, while Anderson came in 15th in 19:47.

Michelle Blomquist was the fourth placer for the Panthers, finishing 34th with a time of 20:17. Anna Christian made her collegiate debut by finishing fifth on the team with a time of 20:39.

Western Michigan won the team title by amassing just 31 points. Abby Barnett of WMU was the individual race winner, finishing in 18:47.

The Panthers will return to action on Friday when they travel to South Bend, Ind., to compete in the Notre Dame Invitational. The women's race is slated to start at 2 p.m.
