Milwaukee Women Place Third At Illini Challenge
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Sept. 15, 2006) - Sophomore Holly Nearman placed third to lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's cross country team to a third-place showing at the Illini Challenge Friday evening in Champaign, Ill. The Panthers tallied 71 points, while host Illinois ran away with top honors with 29 points. Illinois State placed second with 45 and UIC rounded out the field in fourth with 81. Nearman finished seventh to lead the Panthers, crossing the line in 19:01. UWM put three more runners in the top 20, led by senior Kourtney Nault in 12th with a time of 19:21. Sophomore Erin Magargee and Elizabeth Brothen finished together in 14th and 15th places. Magargee posted a time of 19:45 and Brothen was just a second back in 19:46. Sophomore Danielle Magargee also scored for Milwaukee, placing 26th with a time of 21:49, while freshman Erin Willis was 27th in 22:03. Another frosh, Laura Ring, finished the team's top seven with a time of 23:04 for 30th place. The Panthers have next weekend off before returning to action at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational, Sept. 30, in Chicago, Ill.
