Milwaukee Finishes Third At Huskie Invitational
DeKALB, Ill. (Sept. 13, 2008) - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's cross country team placed third among the four Division I schools from Wisconsin at the Huskie Invitational Wisconsin won the meet with a perfect score of 15 points, while Marquette was second with 56. The Panthers tallied 81 for third, well ahead of Green Bay in fourth place (124 points). The meet was not limited to state schools, as host Northern Illinois was fifth with 130 points and Augustana rounded out the field with 152. Junior Abbie Zaspel was the top UWM runner for the second-straight meet, taking 12th with a time of 19:42. Senior Erin Magargee finished 20th with a time of 20:13, 14 seconds and four places ahead of her twin sister, Danielle. Senior Elizabeth Brothen was then just two seconds back of Danielle in 25th place. Sophomore Tanaiya Fisher was the team's last scoring runner, taking 28th in 20:38. Junior Laura Ring and freshman Stephanie Walker were also among the top seven, with Ring crossing the line in 21:00 for 33rd place. Walker was 38th in 21:11. Milwaukee returns to action in two weeks, heading to Chicago for the Lakefront Invitational Sept. 27.
