Panthers Control Play In Win Over First-Place Vikings11/7/2009 - Jena Berg and Maddie Sueppel had 14 kills apiece to lead a balanced attack as the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee claimed a 27-25, 23-25, 25-18, 25-18 win over first-place Cleveland State Saturday afternoon at the Klotsche Center. The Panthers (11-14, 8-6 Horizon) have now won six-straight matches. UWM hit a solid .216 in the match while limiting the Vikings (24-7, 12-3) to a .106 hitting clip. In fact, Milwaukee dominated nearly every statistical category, winning the battle in kills (64-47), digs (75-55) and blocks (13-11). Kerri Schuh added 13 kills and Mary Beth O'Brien pitched-in with 11 for the Panthers. Milwaukee also had four players reach double figures in digs, led by 20 apiece from Berg and Lauren Felsing. Jena Berg had 14 kills to lead three players in double figures as the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee captured a 25-17, 25-22, 25-21 win over Wright State Friday night at the Klotsche Center. The Panthers (10-14, 7-6) have now won five-straight matches. UWM hit a solid .271 in the match, as Kerri Schuh added 12 kills and Mary Beth O'Brien pitched-in with 11. Meanwhile, Milwaukee's defense limited Wright State to a .093 hitting clip, as the Panthers collected 11 blocks. Jessica Woods led Wright State (10-19, 2-12) with 10 kills. Lauren Felsing of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee volleyball team has earned CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V First Team honors. Felsing carries a 3.97 grade-point average in marketing while leading the Horizon League in digs during league contests. The senior libero, who was a CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Second Team Academic All-American a season ago, is again eligible for Academic All-America honors. That will be voted upon in the next several weeks. This marks the fifth-straight year a UWM player has earned academic-all region honors. Lauren's sister, Leanne Felsing, claimed honors in 2007 while Cheryl Hegemann captured academic all-region recognition in both 2005 and 2006.
