Felsing Earns Honorable Mention All-Region Recognition

Starting libero honored for stellar back-row play

Dec. 10, 2008

MILWAUKEE - Junior Lauren Felsing of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has earned honorable mention all-region honors from the American Volleyball Coaches' Association, the organization announced today.

The honor adds to a lengthy list of awards for Felsing, who is UWM's starting libero.

On the floor, Felsing helped the Panthers to the NCAA Tournament after Milwaukee (23-8) won both the Horizon League regular season and tournament titles. Individually, she earned all Horizon League honors after a stellar regular season and then added all-tournament recognition after leading the Panthers' defense during the league championship. During the season, she was named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week three times.

She set a new single-season UWM digs record Nov. 8 in the match with Youngstown State and finished the year with 645. She has now reached double figures in digs in 57-straight contests and she has 1,357 career digs, putting her third on UWM's all-time list.

Off the court, Felsing is a second-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American who carries a 3.982 cumulative grade-point average as a marketing major.
