The UWM women's volleyball team dominated the MCC during the regular season, and it also dominated the postseason awards.

Senior middle blocker Sue Raschka was named MCC Player of the Year and Kathy Litzau was named Co-Coach of the Year. A total of four Panthers were named to the All-MCC first team, which was announced by the league office on Friday night.

Raschka, who was named to the Academic All-District second team earlier this week, ranks third on the team in kills (310) and second in total blocks (70). She is fourth in the conference in hitting percentage (.313), and seventh in kills (3.44/game)

Litzau, who guided the Panthers to their third consecutive 20-win season this year, earned the award for the third time in four years.

Joining Raschka on the All-MCC first team were teammates senior opposite hitter Ericka Malterer, senior setter Katie Schneider and sophomore middle blocker Chrissy Schurla.

Malterer, who was named to the 1999 Academic All-District first team this week, ranks third in the MCC in hitting percentage (.326), and second in kills (3.83/game).

Schneider leads the MCC in assists and currently ranks fourth in the nation in that statistic (14.19/game). She was named to the All-MCC second team each of the previous two seasons.

Schurla leads the MCC in hitting percentage (.343), ranks third in the league in kills (3.60/game).

Freshman outside hitter Kristen Krubsack was named to the league's all-newcomer team. She played in 20 matches this year and recorded 53 kills and 40 digs.

The Panthers (24-2, 11-1 MCC) take the No. 1 seed into the MCC Tournament this weekend. The winner of the tournament receives the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
