Raschka Named MCC Volleyball Player of the Week
Oct. 18, 1999 MILWAUKEE - University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee volleyball player Sue Raschka (Sr., MB, Chicago, Ill.) was named this week’s MCC Volleyball Player of the Week, the conference office announced today. Raschka was named the league’s top player of the week after leading the Panthers to a pair of conference wins last week, including a comeback win over Butler on Saturday when she rallied the team after trailing the Bulldogs, 1-2, to a 3-2 win. She tallied 14 kills, 15 digs, 3 service aces and 2 blocks in the five-game match. In the final game, Raschka’s final two kills of the match propelled the Panthers to a 15-9 game-five win. On Friday, she led UWM with 20 kills in its sweep of Wright State. Overall, Raschka hit .314 in the two-match series while notching a team-leading 34 kills, averaging 4.25 kpg. She also had 21 digs (2.62 dpg) and 4 service aces (.50 sapg). This is the second time Raschka has earned this honor so far this year, and the fifth time for the team. Laura Dallenbach (OH, So., Waterloo, Iowa, West) was named the MCC Player of the Week the week of Sept. 6, Ericka Malterer (OP, Sr., Waupun, Wis., Waupun) earned the honor the week of Sept. 13, Raschka (MB, Chicago, Ill., Immaculate Heart of Mary) earned her first honor the week of Sept. 27, and Chrissy Schurla (MB, So., Chicago, Ill.) was given the nod just last week.
