UWM Volleyball Prepare for UW-Green Bay
Sept. 28, 1999 MILWUAKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee volleyball team travels to Green Bay on Wednesday, Sept. 29, to take on the UW-Green Bay Phoenix at 7 p.m. at the Phoenix Sports Center. The last time these two teams met was at the Wisconsin Challenge on Sept. 10 when the Panthers only took an hour to sweep UW-Green Bay in three straight games, downing the Phoenix 15-3, 15-5, 15-3. The Panthers lead the series with the Phoenix, 17-8. The last time the Phoenix beat the Panthers was in 1994, when they defeated UWM in both meetings. The Panthers in the NCAA Statistics The Panthers’ 10-1 start as of last week has earned UWM a place in the national statistical rankings, as compiled by the NCAA. As a team and as of Sept. 20 when the statistics were last updated, UWM was ninth nationally in team hitting percentage (.289), 18th in kills (16.89), 18th in assists (15.26), and 11th in win-loss ratio (.909). Individually, Katie Schneider (senior, West Bend, Wis., East) was eighth in the nation in assists, averaging 13.92 apg. The Panthers in the MCC UWM dominates the MCC top 10 lists for this week, earning the top spot as a team in team hitting percentage (.291), kills (17.51 kpg), assists (15.96 apg), and service aces (1.96 sapg). They are fifth in blocks (1.78 bpg) and third in digs (16.36 dpg). Individually, a Panther is the top player in hitting percentage (Ericka Malterer, .345), kills (Ericka Malterer, 4.04), and assists (Katie Schneider, 14.51).
