Volleyball Players Honored By UWM
May 10, 2001 MILWAUKEE - A number of UWM volleyball players were honored at the recent UWM Student-Athlete Awards Reception. Junior Laura Dallenbach was named the Coca-Cola/UWM Athlete of the Year. Earlier this season, Dallenbach was honored as the Midwestern Collegiate Conference Player of the Year. Junior Chrissy Schurla was honored for her selection to the MCC Academic All-Conference team. Sophomore Larissa Cattanach received the Faculty Representative's Award for having the highest cumulative grade point average on the team. A total of nine volleyball players, include four players who finished their eligibility following the 1999 season, were honored as UWM Scholar-Athletes. Four others were named to the 2000-01 MCC Academic Honor Roll. The 2000 volleyball team was also honored for its MCC regular season championship, while coach Kathy Litzau was honored for being named coach of the year.
