Volleyball Program Earns Recognition For APR Score
April 24, 2008
MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's volleyball program has earned a public recognition award from the NCAA for its lofty Academic Progress Rate score. UWM's score ranks in the top 10 percent of all Division I volleyball squads. According to the NCAA the APR is intended to provide a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete. The APR includes eligibility, retention and graduation in the calculation. The NCAA will announce the full list of all scores for all sports next week. This recognition adds to a long list of academic successes for the UWM volleyball program. The team has a cumulative grade-point average of 3.449, the highest of any team in the department. Plus, Leanne and Lauren Felsing each earned a spot on the Horizon League's All-Academic team this past fall while Leanne Felsing collected ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Region honors.
