CLEVELAND - The UWM women's volleyball team had little trouble moving past Cleveland State in the MCC Tournament quarterfinals Saturday morning, claiming a 15-8, 15-6, 15-9 victory.

With the win, the Panthers (22-3) advance to a semifinal match with Butler Saturday evening.

Junior Laura Dallenbach, the MCC Player of the Year, led the Panthers with 19 kills and a .552 hitting percentage. Freshman Lindsey Spoden collected 53 assists and 11 digs, while the Panther defense limited the Vikings to a .176 hitting percentage.

The win by the Panthers was their second in a week over Cleveland State, and their 14th straight overall.

"We knew Cleveland State would be tougher this time around, especially on their home floor," coach Kathy Litzau said. "Chrissy Schurla played very well defensively, and Laura really stepped forward to lead the team. It was a total team effort."

UWM won all three matches this season over Cleveland State. The Panthers swept Butler during thr egular season, but their last match two weeks ago went five games.
