The UWM women's volleyball team used a stellar offensive performance to down non-conference rival Illinois State,15-8, 15-4, 15-9, Tuesday night at the Klotsche Center.

The win was the Panthers 36th in their last 37 home matches, and moved UWM to 9-2 on the season.

Sophomore Larissa Cattanach (Fargo, N.D./North) and sophomore Tari Bouton (Burnsville, Minn.) led the Panthers with 10 kills apiece, while freshman Lindsey Spoden (Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson Senior) set up the offense with 42 assists. UWM actually produced a very balanced attack, with junior Chrissy Schurla (Chicago, Ill./Evergreen Park) providing nine kills, junior Julie Yankus (New Berlin, Wis./Waukesha Catholic Memorial) adding eight, and junior Laura Dallenbach (Waterloo, Iowa/West) pitching in with six more. The Panthers hit .400 for the match.

The Panther defense was also strong again, limiting Illinois State to a .157 hitting percentage, including a -.074 in game two.

The Panthers win is their second in as many seasons over the Redbirds (6-4).

UWM now hopes to carry its strong play into a big conference road swing. The Panthers play at pre-season MCC favorite Loyola Chicago Friday, and then face 10-2 Illinois-Chicago Saturday.

The Panthers next home match is Oct. 6 vs. Butler.
