The UW-Milwaukee women's volleyball team opened play in the Powerade Panther Invitational Friday night with a 15-6, 15-12, 15-13 win over the University of Wyoming.

The Panthers were led by junior outside hitter Laura Dallenbach's (Waterloo, Iowa/West) 12 kills. Sophomore middle blocker Larissa Cattanach (Fargo, N.D./North) added 11 kills, and junior middle blocker Chrissy Schurla (Chicago, Ill./Evergreen Park) pitched in with 10. Defensively, Cattanach led the way with three blocks, while Dallenbach added two. The Panthers also scored on 11 service aces in moving to 3-1 on the season.

In earlier action at the Powerade Panther Invitational, Austin Peay outlasted Portland University 15-8, 15-6, 13-15, 9-15, 15-9.

Saturday, UWM faces Portland at 10 a.m. at the Klotsche Center, while Austin Peay squares off with Wyoming at noon. The tournament wraps up with Wyoming facing Portland at 5 p.m., and UWM facing Austin Peay at 7 p.m.
