Panthers Fall Shorts Of League Championship, Take Second5/9/2008 - Five Panthers won league titles on Friday, but it was not enough as the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's track and field team finished second at the 2008 Horizon League Championships. Junior Beth Zimmerman won a league title in the long jump to lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's track and field team on the first day of the 2008 Horizon League Championships Thursday. Zimmerman gave Milwaukee its second league title, after junior Kory Olson's heptathlon crown last week, as the Panthers have 41 points at the halfway points of the league meet. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's track and field team will head to Youngstown, Ohio, Thursday and Friday for the 2008 Horizon League Outdoor Championships. The Panthers are the reigning league outdoor champions and are in search of a fifth outdoor crown.
