Walker Named League Athlete Of The WeekMILWAUKEE, Wis. (April 26, 2006) - Junior Timeka Walker of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee was named this week's Horizon League Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. Walker is the third Panther to earn the honor during the outdoor season, following senior Tenia Fisher April 5 and freshman Jenni Saarinen April 11. Walker has now earned the honor twice in her career, having earned it once during the 2006 indoor season. Walker won three events, including a relay, to lead the Panthers to a commanding win at the Illinois Benedictine Invitational last weekend. She topped the field in the 100m with a time of 12.11 and ran her first sub-25.00 time of the season in winning the 200m in 24.92. With the 4x100m relay, she helped the corps to a time of 47.39. Milwaukee scored more points at the meet than second, third and fourth places combined. The Panthers are back in action this weekend at the prestigious Drake Relays, Thursday through Saturday, in Des Moines, Iowa.
