Fisher Named League Athlete Of the Week

Senior broke school 800m and qualified for regionals

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (April 5, 2006) - Senior Tenia Fisher of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has been named the Horizon League Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week for the week of April 3, the league office announced today.

Fisher is the first Panther to earn the honor during the current outdoor season, while the award is the third of her career.

Last weekend at the Stanford Invitational, Fisher finished seventh in the 800m. Her time of 2:08.97 eclipsed the school record by almost two seconds and qualified her for the NCAA Regional. Her time bested Anne Hill's 2:10.01 school mark set in 1987 and the regional qualifying time of 2:09.80.

Currently, Fisher is ranked 14th in the nation in the 800m, while sitting seventh in the Mideast Region.
