The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's track and field team returns home this week for its only home meet of the 2005 season. Milwaukee's Klotsche Center will play host to the UWM Panther Tune Up Friday (Feb. 18), with action kicking off at 4 p.m.

A Look At The UWM Panther Tune Up
Milwaukee will be joined at this year's UWM Panther Tune Up by local rivals Marquette and Wisconsin, while league foes UIC and Loyola will cross the state border to compete. The meet features double dual meet scoring, with each team scoring points against each other. The addition of Wisconsin is the lone change to the line-up from last year when the Panthers went 3-0 against Marquette 92-58, UIC 82-55 and Loyola 74.5-63.5.

Last Time Out
Junior Tenia Fisher broke her second school record of the season to lead UWM at the Iowa State Cyclone Classic last Friday and Saturday, in Ames, Iowa. Fisher, who broke the school 400m mark earlier this season, eclipsed her own 800m record by almost two seconds.

Record-Breaking Reputation
Tenia Fisher continues to put together a tremendous junior campaign. Last weekend she broke her own 800m record by almost two seconds (2:10.05), while she also cracked the school top-10 in the 200m, making her debut at sixth with a time of 25.75. This season she has also set the school record in the 400m, running 57.10 on Feb. 5, and posted the second-fastest 600m time of 1:34.37, missing the school mark by just 0.49 seconds. For her efforts, she picked up a pair of wins and has been named the League Athlete of the Week after the first two meets of the season.

Nice Start
Freshman Shannon Buttchen continues to enjoy a nice start to her collegiate career while competing primarily in the 400m and with the 4x400m relay. She opened the season with a second-place showing in the 400m at the Division I Invite, as well as a share in the first-place finish of the 4x400m relay. She has since posted the eighth-best time in school history, and the eighth-fastest 4x400m relay.

Fast Tracks
Junior Amber Perri and freshman Shannon Buttchen ran the seventh and eighth-fastest 400m times in school history on Saturday, as Perri crossed the line in 58.51 and Buttchen was right next to her, finishing in 58.52 ... The Panthers have not seen much of league teams at scored meets this season, finishing ahead of Loyola at the Division I Invite and Wright State at the Central Collegiate Championships.

Up Next
This week is the final meet for Milwaukee to prepare for the Horizon League Championships, Feb. 26-27, in Greencastle, Ind. The Panthers are looking to return to championship form after taking second at last year's indoor meet. UWM had won three titles in four seasons prior to that.
