Zimmerman Defends Triple Jump Title At Janvrin Open
INDIANOLA, Ind. (April 25, 2008) - Junior Beth Zimmerman repeated as champion in the triple jump at the Kip Janvrin Open to lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's track and field team in action Friday in Iowa. Milwaukee competed at Simpson College's Janvrin Open in Indianola, as well as the Drake Relays in Des Moines. Zimmerman leapt 39-4 in winning the triple jump at the Janvrin Open for the second-straight year. She also placed third in the long jump with a distance of 18-7. She also competed with the 4x100m relay 20 miles away at Drake. Teaming with sophomore Kelsey Conrad, Emily Budde and freshman Angie Kaufmann, the relay ran a time of 47.70 to place 23rd in the preliminaries. Conrad and Kaufmann also ran with the 4x400m relay that ran a time of 3:55.41 to take 31st in the prelims. They were joined by senior Shannon Buttchen and sophomore Laura Ring. Back in Indianola, junior Danielle Magargee took 27th in the 1500m, crossing the line in 5:07.70. Budde also competed at Simpson, taking 27th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.64. The Panthers wrap up their weekend of competition Saturday at the Drake Relays and Marquette Invitational. The Marquette Invite gets underway at 1 p.m. in Milwaukee with field events.
