Panther Relays Have Strong Day At Drake Relays

Women's 4x200m among school's 10 best all-time

April 25, 2003

DES MOINES, Iowa - Three of the five women's relays scheduled to compete at this weekend's Drake Relays ran on Friday, with one of them posting one of the top times in school history at the famed meet.

The women's 4x200m relay team of Nicole Frey, Sara Vanderloop, Iris Perez and Katie Seep finished in 1:42.09, good enough to place them in fifth place all-time in school history. That group finished fourth in their heat, and though the time was one of the best in UWM history, was not fast enough to move them into Saturday's finals.

The 4x100m relay team of Kristy Naef, Sara Vanderloop, Iris Perez and Nicole Frey finished fifth in their heat, posting a time of 48.29. The other relay, the 4x400m team of Katie Seep, Tenia Fisher, Katie Slamka and Teresa Braunreiter, also finished fifth in their qualifying heat in 3:53.23.

Individually, Kristy Naef finished seventh in her heat with a time of 14.82. Lynda Thiel competed in the javelin, but failed to record a mark.

The Panthers will run another two relays tomorrow, the shuttle hurdle relay and the 1600m medley relay.
