LAWRENCE, Kan. - It took one day and one win for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's track and field team to notice that they enjoy the taste of victory. One day after claiming a relay championship in the four-mile relay, Milwaukee conquered the task again Saturday afternoon in the final session of the 77th Annual Kansas Relays.

The quartet of Katie Seep, Griffin McNulty, Katie Anderson and Tenia Fisher went the distance in the 4x880-meter relay to place first (9:21.66) to finish seven seconds ahead of Drake University. The relay win was the second that the Panther women claimed in this year KU Relays.

"Katie Seep gave us the lead and the rest of the women cruised on from there," Panther coach Pete Corfeld said. "It was really exciting to watch them run and bring home another championship."

Adding to the strong performance by the quartet of Panthers, UWM added a fifth-place finish (4:13.67) in the 1600-meter sprint medley relay. Anderson and Fisher teamed up with Iris Perez and Sara Vanderloop to comprise the relay team.

Milwaukee offered more than just relay teams for positive showings at the relays. Sophomore Katie Slamka added a fifth-place (1:03.29) finish in the 400-meter hurdles for the women's team. Slamka qualified for the 400-meter hurdle finals after placing fifth (1:02.56) on Friday night's preliminary heat.

"This year's relays were really exciting for us," Corfeld said. "Today may have been one of the best days of relay running UWM's ever had. This really raises the level of our team and raises our expectations, but it's fun to be a part of."

Overall, the Panther women claimed two relay wins, one second-place finish and four fifth-place finishes in the 77th Annual Kansas Relays. UWM will head to Des Moines, Iowa next weekend to compete in the Drake Relays.
