Kenesie Wins Twice At Northern IowaFeb. 9, 2003 MILWAUKEE - Senior Stephanie Kenesie picked up a pair of wins in the long jump and triple jump Saturday to lead another strong overall performance at the Northern Iowa Open Saturday afternoon at Cedar Falls, Iowa. Kenesie set a season-best mark in each event. In the triple jump, Kenesie jumped 37-6.75, while measuring out at 19-2.5 in the long jump. Kenesie also added a third-place finish in the 60m hurdles in 9.14 and another in the high jump, clearing 5-4.5. Lynda Thiel also collected a win in the high jump, clearing a personal-best 5-6.5, just a half inch off the school record mark of 5-7. The final Panther win was in the mile relay, as the team of Teresa Braunreiter, Tenia Fisher, Katie Slamka and Katie Seep finished in 3:59.29. Nicole Frey had a strong day for the Panthers as well, finishing second in the 60m and third in the 200m, setting a personal best time of 25.49 in the 200m. Her final time in the 60m was 7.90, leading four Panthers in the top five in the event. Kristy Naef was third in .94, followed by Laura Diers in fourth in 7.96 and Sara Vanderloop in fifth in 7.97.
Braunreiter finished fourth in the 600m in 1:38.32, while Abby Hurst was fourth in the 800m in 2:25.57. Katie Anderson added a third-place finish in the 1000m in 3:04.13. Thiel added a second-place finish in the pole vault after clearing 11-7.25, while Kalin Konop jumped 35-7.75 to finish fifth in the triple jump.
The Panthers return to Iowa next weekend, as they travel to the Iowa State Invitational on Thursday and Friday. |
