UWM Names McInerney New Women's Tennis Coach10/14/2009 - Sean McInerney has been named the new women's tennis coach at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Director of Athletics George Koonce announced today. McInerney has served in a wide variety of tennis-related capacities across the Milwaukee area in recent years. He spent the past year as head coach of the men's team at the Milwaukee School of Engineering and has been the head coach of the girl's team at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School since 2004. Three University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee players won singles-flight titles as the Panthers' women's tennis team put together another solid performance at the Hinds-Kellogg Classic at Western Illinois this weekend. Megan Gow won the Flight C championship, Kelly Fritz captured the Flight D title and Beth Ganser brought home the Flight F title. UWM players also won five other singles matches and four doubles contests. Gow claimed her title with three straight-sets wins, while Fritz won a pair of tiebreaker sets before capturing a 6-1, 6-1 win in the title match. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee plays its final fall tournament this weekend, heading to Macomb, Ill., for the fourth-annual Hinds-Kellogg Classic Friday and Saturday. The nine-team event will likely be played indoors due to weather conditions in the Midwest. The Panthers will be looking to build on strong performances in each of their first two tournaments, with UWM players winning 19 singles matches and 14 doubles contests. Read Full Release
