MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's spring tennis schedule will include seven home meets and a trip to California, head coach Erika Wentz announced today.

The seven home matches are the most the Panthers have ever played and have been made possible thanks to a growing relationship between UWM tennis and the the area's Elite Fitness and Racquet Clubs. The Panthers already practice at the North Shore Elite location in Glendale and will now play their home meets at the Highlander Elite location in Brookfield.

"The Highlander is one of the premier fitness and racquet clubs in the Milwaukee area," Wentz said. "We have a facility that we can call home. The Elite clubs have been very generous to UWM tennis and we hope we will be able to continue that relationship."

The spring schedule will open Feb. 12 with a match at UW-Green Bay. The Panthers will then return home for matches Feb. 14 against Chicago State, Feb. 15 against Butler and Feb. 22 vs. IPFW. Other home matches include a March 6 date with Bradley, an April 3 contest with Detroit, an April 10 meet with Wright State and an April 17 contest with UIC. The spring break trip to California will include matches with UC-Riverside, Cal-State Fullerton and Southern Utah. The Horizon League Championship will be held in Indianapolis at the end of April.

Wentz knows seven home matches will provide an opportunity for UWM to attract more fans to its growing tennis program.

"I am very excited to have seven home matches, more than the school has ever had," Wentz said. "I know the team is very excited to have the number of home matches we do so that more family and friends can cheer us on."
