MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team resumes dual match play this weekend with a neutral-site matchup with Missouri-Kansas City in Chicago. The Kangaroos will be making their first appearance on the courts this weekend. This weekend's match will begin at 3 p.m. UWM will be looking to end a 27-match losing streak, dating back to the 2000-01 season.

The Series
The Panthers and Kangaroos, members of the Mid-Continent Conference, have not met since UWM moved to Division I in 1990. UWM is 14-14 against Mid-Con schools since the 1990 season. The Panthers will play two more Mid-Con schools, IUPUI and Chicago State, later this season. UWM is also 0-2 against schools from the state of Missouri. Both of those losses came at the hands of Southwest Missouri State during the 2000-01 season.

Last Time Out
The Panthers played at the Ball State Tournament on Friday and Saturday and saw three different players each collect a win. At No. 2 singles, freshman Alyssa Halcomb picked up her second win of the season before dropping her next two matches to finish fourth in the flight. Classmate Margie VanLieshout also won her first match Friday, her second of the season, before losing the next two to even her record at 2-2. Sophomore Megan Brown picked up the only other UWM win on the weekend, winning at No. 4 singles in the seventh-place match.

Off and Running
The two newcomers to this year's team both had impressive debuts Sept. 21at Whitewater, collecting both of the team's wins. At No. 2 singles, Alyssa Halcomb collected her first collegiate win, winning in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, while Margie Van Lieshout also picked up career win number one at No. 4 singles, winning 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.

Caulk Climbs the Lists
Senior Molly Caulk still stands in fourth place all-time in career matches played after not making the trip to Ball State last weekend. With her match in the season opener against Whitewater, senior Molly Caulk has moved into fourth place all-time in career matches played with 73. She ended last season with 72, tied with Lori Rocklewitz, who played from 1993-97, and Tori Whitlinger, who played from 1994-98.

Spring Break in Sunny Milwaukee
For the first time since the 1998-99 season, and the first time since coach Erin Jex took over the UWM tennis program, the Panthers will not be taking a training trip during Spring Break. Last year, UWM traveled to Texas for matches against Texas-Pan American, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and St. Mary's of Texas. The Panthers went 0-3 on last year's trip. Since moving to Division I in 1990, the Panthers are 9-17 all-time on Spring Break trips.

Up Next
The Panthers will travel to Indianapolis for a pair of non-league matches on Oct. 19. At 9 a.m., UWM will take on Mid-Con member IUPUI, before facing the University of Indianapolis at 2 p.m.
