MILWAUKEE - For the second consecutive season, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis program has been honored for its work in the classroom by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. As a team, head coach Matt McCaskill's Panthers earned a spot on the ITA All-Academic list, while four Panther players claimed ITA Scholar-Athlete honors. Kelly Drvaric, Kari Kastenholz, Ashley Schoneman and Sammi Schoen were the four individuals recognized. The team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.2 or above. All eligible student-athletes on the team must average into the GPA for the current academic year. The individual award is open to any player that earns a varsity letter and has a grade-point average of 3.5 or better during the academic year. The honors add to an already impressive list of academic accomplishments by the women's tennis program at UWM. The squad has the highest cumulative GPA of any team in the UWM Athletics Department, posting a 3.450 mark. Plus, the spring 2008 semester GPA of 3.460 was the highest in the department.
