McConnell Signs Letter Of Intent With UWM

Panther tennis adds another player

June 10, 2004

MILWAUKEE - Jenna McConnell of Hartland, Wis., has signed a National Letter of Intent to play tennis at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

McConnell is head coach Erika Wentz's second signee of 2004. She has played previously at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and is a graduate of Hartland Arrowhead High School.

McConnell last played collegiately in 2002-03, posting an 11-5 record as part of the number-one doubles team and helping IUP to the NCAA Division II East Regional Finals. While a standout at Arrowhead, McConnell earned three varsity letters in tennis, earning two team MVP honors and a pair of conference championships in doubles. She was the top singles player on the team during her senior year.

"Jenna will be a strong addition to our team next year," Wentz said. "Not only is she a fierce competitor, but she has the type of collegiate experience that will make our team deeper. I will be looking for her to play a major role in our doubles lineup next season. She is also an excellent student, having been selected to the Dean's List every semester she was at IUP."
