Women's Tennis Splits Over the Weekend

Senior Kristine Miller captured No. 1 victories in singles and doubles competition Saturday.

The UWM Women's Tennis team split two matches over this past weekend. The women lost to the University of Illinois-Chicago Friday March 31, 0-9, but came back with a victory against Bradley Saturday afternoon, 6-3.

Against UIC, the No. 3 doubles team of sophomore Julie Heling and junior Kate Laveck held their own, but lost 5-8.

Saturday afternoon, senior Kristine Miller came from behind to defeat Bradley's Lisa Justice 5-7, 6-4, 7-6. No. 3 freshman Molly Caulk and No. 5 junior Kaila Duff also won their respective matches, 6-4, 7-5 and 6-7, 6-1, 7-6. In doubles play against Bradley, all three teams were victorious. The No. 1 and No. 2 doubles teams of Miller/junior Jamie Martin and Duff/freshman Katie Martin both won their matches 8-5. The No. 3 team of Heling/Laveck defeated their opponents 8-6.

The women are next in action Friday, April 8 at Pleasant Valley Tennis Club to take on IUPUI at 11 a.m. and Detroit at 3 p.m..
