MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team kicks off its 2007 home spring schedule with a busy weekend of three matches.

The Panthers will host Horizon League rival Wright State Friday night, with Western Illinois visiting Milwaukee Saturday and Bradley taking on UWM Sunday.

UWM had just one match last weekend, a 6-1 loss to perennial Horizon League power UIC. The Panthers were scheduled to open their home schedule last Saturday with IPFW, but that match was postponed because of bad weather.

The Panthers have already won five matches this season, the most since the 2000-01 squad won six times. Plus, UWM freshmen Kelly Drvaric, Ali O'Neal and Ashley Schoneman have combined for 13 singles wins in the fall alone, with O'Neal and Schoneman each tallying 13 total wins when you include their performances in the fall. The school record for singles victories is 16, set by Tori Whitlinger in 1996-97 and tied by Elizabeth Angel last season.

Wright State is 2-8 this spring, though one of its two wins came by forfeit. The Raiders have not yet played a Horizon League match and are schedule to head to Green Bay for a match Sunday with the Phoenix.

Western Illinois is 1-3 this spring, with its win coming this past Saturday over South Dakota State. Last month, the Leathernecks did lose to Creighton, a team UWM defeated earlier this spring. WIU is also scheduled to play at Green Bay on Sunday.

Bradley is 4-3 this spring, including a win over Horizon League foe Detroit. The Braves, who have three freshmen and two sophomores on their eight-person roster, will also play at Green Bay Saturday.

Friday's match with the Raiders begins at 6 p.m. at Mequon Elite. Saturday's match has a 7 p.m. start time at Highlander Elite in Brookfield. Sunday's contest with Bradley is set for 1 p.m. at Mequon Elite.

UWM has just one match next weekend, making the trip to Cedar Falls, Iowa, for a Sunday contest with Northern Iowa.
