Freshman claimed four wins over the weekend

Feb. 13, 2007

MILWAUKEE - Freshman Ali O'Neal of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has been named the Horizon League Women's Tennis Player of the Week.

O'Neal led the Panthers to wins over Creighton and Coe College this past weekend.

In all, O'Neal claimed four victories on Saturday. Her two singles victories came in the #4 slot, where she claimed a 6-0, 6-1 win over Lindsey Driscoll of Coe and a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Lindsey Erickson of Creighton. O'Neal also won a pair of doubles matches, teaming with Kelly Drvaric for a 9-8 win over Creighton at #1 doubles while joining up with Traci Litscher for an 8-5 win over Coe at #3 doubles.

O'Neal, one of four freshmen in UWM's playing rotation, put together an amazing 105-7 record during her four-year career at Stevens Point Area High School. She then won nine singles matches and 10 doubles matches at UWM this fall, posting team-highs in both categories.

UWM continues its spring schedule this weekend, playing at league-rival UW-Green Bay Friday night before facing Xavier in Green Bay on Saturday.
