Tennis Hosts Home Matches Saturday, Sunday

Panthers entertain Northern Iowa, Chicago State

Feb. 9, 2005

MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team will host a pair of home matches this weekend.

The Panthers will face Northern Iowa at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Northshore Elite Fitness and Racquet Club, while UWM will host Chicago State at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Moorland Park.

UWM is 0-2 in the early going of its spring season, falling to Wright State at home two weeks ago and to Northern Illinois last Saturday. But the Panthers were without top singles player Margie Van Lieshout in the loss to the Huskies, forcing all players to play up at least one level.

UWM will be tested by the Panthers of Northern Iowa Saturday. UNI beat Truman State in its season opener last weekend and, though they were picked to finish eighth in the Missouri Valley Conference, the UNI Panthers return five players from last year's squad. Then Sunday, UWM will face a Chicago State team that grabbed a 5-2 win over UWM last season.

Admission to all home tennis matches is free. North Shore Elite is located just off of Silver Spring Road in Glendale, while Mooreland Park is at 2900 S. 163rd Street in New Berlin.
