Panthers face Huskies in Rockford Saturday

Feb. 3, 2005

MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team will travel to Rockford, Ill., for a match with Northern Illinois University Saturday.

The Panthers, under first-year head coach Matthew McCaskill, dropped their spring opener to Wright State last Saturday. The brightest spot of last weekend's action, according to McCaskill, was the play of Shayna Illingworth. She teamed with freshman Alissa Matzinger to claim a win in doubles and then lost a hard-fought match at No. 5 singles.

UWM's lineup last weekend also included junior Margie Van Lieshout at No. 1 singles and Tammie Spiel at No. 2 singles. Traci Litscher, Erin Felber and Matzinger rounded out the singles order for the Panthers.

Northern Illinois has dropped three of its first four matches this spring, including losses to Wisconsin and Marquette last weekend.

UWM plays two home matches next weekend, hosting Northern Iowa Saturday and Chicago State Sunday.
