Halcomb Falls In Qualifying Round

Freshman advances to second round of play before falling

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Freshman Alyssa Halcomb lost in the second round of play in the Qualifying Round of the ITA Great Lakes Regional yesterday afternoon in East Lansing, Mich. Halcomb lost to Brittany Reitz of Purdue, 6-0, 6-0, after winning her opening match.

Halcomb opened play by defeating Paulina Reyes of Cleveland State, 6-2, 6-1. Halcomb was the only player from a Horizon League school to win their opening round match, with four other league players bowing out early.

Halcomb and fellow freshman Margie Van Lieshout will begin play in the doubles draw this afternoon. The match is approximately slated for a 1 p.m. CDT start.
