Tennis Team Finishes Final Fall Tournament

Freshman Megan Brown goes 2-1 on the weekend

MILWAUKEE - The UWM women's tennis team completed the fall tournament portion of their 2001-2002 schedule, as they competed in the Northern Illinois Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.

Freshman Megan Brown led the Panthers on the weekend with a 2-1 singles record. Brown won both of her matches on Saturday, but fell to Northern Illinois' Tanja Sukovic, 6-0, 6-2, on Sunday.

Fellow freshman Tammie Spiel had the only other Panther victory on the weekend, as she defeated Kelley Wood from Bradley University, 5-7, 6-2, 10-8, on Sunday. Brown was defeated in her first two matches on Saturday.

Northern Illinois dominated their play in the tournament, going 19-0 in singles play and 8-0 in doubles play.

The Panthers return to the courts in two weeks when they begin dual match play on Sat., Oct. 13, against IUPUI and UW-Green Bay in Green Bay, Wis.
