DETROIT, Mich. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's tennis team wrapped up the 2005 regular season by dropping three hard-fought road matches over the weekend.

The Panthers fell at Oakland Friday before dropping matches against Toledo Saturday and Detroit Sunday.

In Sunday's Horizon League contest with Detroit, the Panthers won the doubles point but could not rally in any of the regularly-scheduled singles matches, losing a 6-1 decision. Alissa Matzinger did win an exhibition singles match. Tammie Spiel and Margie Van Lieshout won at #1 singles while Jenna McConnell and Shayna Illingworth won at #3 doubles.

Earlier in the weekend, the Panthers battled with Oakland before falling, 5-2. UWM again won the doubles point, with Van Lieshout and Spiel winning at #1 doubles and Traci Litscher and Erin Felber claiming victory at #2 doubles. Felber also notched a 6-1, 6-1 victory at #6 singles. The Panthers were then swept, 7-0, by Toledo.

UWM will be the eighth-seed at next weekend's Horizon League Tennis Championships, which are held in Indianapolis.
