Illinois- The Panther women's tennis team dropped to 6-10 on the season after a shaky weekend in Illinois as UWM fell, 7-0, to Western Illinois on Friday and edged Bradley University to a 3-4 finish Saturday.

Against Western, senior Kaila Duff's (Grafton, Wis./Grafton) last efforts fell short at the No. 1 singles spot, as she lost 6-1, 7-5. Seniors Jamie Martin (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) and Kate Laveck (Manitowoc, Wis./Roncalli) paired for an exciting matchup at the No. 1 doubles, but lost 8-5.

Saturday, Martin won her No. 2 singles game over her opponent, 6-4, 6-2, and Laveck also pulled through victoriously in a hard-fought 7-6, 6-2 win. Junior Shauna Jansen (Union Grove, Wis./Union Grove) came up with a victory as well, winning 7-6, 6-4.

In doubles competition for the weekend, freshman Cassie Kuranz (Racine, Wis./Case) and Jansen paired for an 8-3 win. UWM fell in all the other doubles competition over the weekend.

The Panthers are next on the courts Saturday, April 7 as they take on Eastern Illinois at 9 a.m. and Southeast Missouri State at 1 p.m. later that afternoon. UWM's lone home match this spring season falls on April 20 as they take on MCC rival UW-Green Bay at 3 p.m. at McKinley Park.
