FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton handed the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee a 6-1 defeat in women's tennis action Monday afternoon.

UWM, which had lost to Southern Utah and Cal Riverside earlier in the trip, pleased head coach Erika Wentz with its effort, though the Panthers could not overcome a foe that has won six of its last eight.

"The whole team really fought and put forth a tremendous effort. It's the best I have seen them when it comes to heart and intensity," Wentz said. "We definitely got better as the weekend went on out here. The team should be very proud of that and the effort they put forth."

Melissa Hackett claimed the lone singles with for the Panthers, beating Christie Dy 3-6, 6-2 (10-7).

UWM returns to action April 3 in a home match against league-rival Detroit.
