Panthers Come Up Just Short At IPFWJan. 29, 2006
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee performed well in singles play but could not snag the important doubles point in falling, 4-3, to IPFW Sunday afternoon. The Panthers split the six singles matches on the day but were swept in the three official doubles matches. Traci Litscher won a hard-fought, three-set match at #2 singles, downing Lisa Bartelheim (IPFW) 7-5, 6-7 [5], 13-11. Elizabeth Angel claimed a win at #5 singles, downing Beth Miller 7-5, 6-2. And, Samantha Drews beat Jessica Vervynckt, 6-1, 7-5, at #6 singles. UWM couldn't break through in doubles action, though. The closest match came at #3 doubles, where Angel and Lauren Fenley fell to Jessica Vervynckt and Hanna Hager, 8-5.
