Panther Women Sweep Weekly Horizon League Swimming & Diving AwardsNov. 14, 2006 MILWAUKEE - Seniors Lindsay Caldwell and Emily Duesler of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's swimming & diving team earned a pair of weekly Horizon League honors, the league office announced Tuesday. Caldwell was named Swimmer of the Week and Duesler was named Diver of the Week to give Milwaukee the sweep. The award is the second of the season for both. Caldwell was also named league swimmer of the week Oct. 18 and has now earned the honor seven times in her UWM career. For Duesler, who was also named diver of the week Oct. 24, it's the third of her career. Caldwell dominated the sprint events against Butler and UIC, winning the 50, 100 and 200 freestyles in season-best times. She also led off the 400 free relay, getting UWM started to a win in that event as well. Against Valparaiso, she won the 200 free and swam the 100 breaststroke as an exhibition in what would have been a winning time. Duesler continued to dominate the diving events, picking up her fifth and sixth wins of the season by sweeping both boards against Butler and UIC. Her score of 246.55 on the one-meter was just below her season-best and her score of 273.80 on the three-meter was an NCAA Zone qualifying tally. She also won the one-meter against Valpo, recording 223.95 points. This marks the fourth and fifth league awards of the season for the UWM women. Sophomore Molly Finn was named the league swimmer of the week Oct. 31 in addition to the two each that Caldwell and Duesler own. The women continue their season this weekend at the Ball State Invitational.
