Nov. 12, 2003 MILWAUKEE - Complete Release in PDF Format
Lindsay Caldwell, a freshman from West Bend, has been making a name for herself as being one of the steadier sprinters on the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's swimming and diving team. Caldwell's consistent efforts have been rewarded by the Horizon League as she has been named the Horizon League Swimming Athlete of the Week for November 10, 2003. Caldwell won the award based off a strong showing at the UWM Quad Meet on Saturday, November 8. Swimming away with two wins on the day, the West Bend-native scored first place in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.44 and 100 freestyle with a finishing time of 53.21. She also contributed to victories in the 400 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay. Not only has Lindsay Caldwell been consistent, but she's already making a mark in the Panther record books. With a time of 53.21, Caldwell set the Panther's freshman record in the 100 freestyle event. Her time broke Kelly Goetsch's record time of 53.51. Earlier on in the season, Caldwell snapped Allison Schepp's UWM freshman record in the 50-freestyle (24.77) by swimming a 24.39 at the Notre Dame Invitational (10/10). Capping off her record-setting performances, Caldwell set a Klotsche Center pool record with her time in the 100 freestyle. "Lindsay has been great in the early part of the season," Panther head coach David Clark said. "1 school record, 2 freshmen records and a pool record are a testement to her work ethic and competitive spirit."
Caldwell and the rest of the Panthers will be returning to action on Friday, December 5 at the Wheaton College Invitational.
