INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Sophomore Lindsay Caldwell represented the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's swimming and diving team at the World Championship Trials, April 3, in Indianapolis, Ind. She is the first swimmer in school history to compete at the event while still competing with the Panthers.

Caldwell swam to a 31st-place finish in the 50-meter freestyle. The West Bend native touched the wall in 26.95 in the preliminaries, after swimming a time of 26.81 at the previous day's trials.

"Her performance just shows what she has done in two years (at UWM)," head coach Dave Clark said. "It also just goes to show what she can do with her potential."

The feat is just the latest for Caldwell in what has been a phenomenal sophomore campaign. At the Horizon League Championships in February, she set league records in the 50-yard free, 100-yard free and 100-yard breast events on her way to Oustanding Swimmer of the meet honors.

In addition to winning league titles in each event, she swam with the first-place 400-yard medley and 400-free relays. Both relays swam school-record times in winning each event.

Josh Baseheart, a Panther letterwinner from 2000-04 for the men's team, also competed at the meet, also competing in the 50-meter free. He completed the event in 24.34 for 37th place.
