Four Panthers Set To Compete At NCAA Zone 'C' Diving Meet This Weekend

Divers will be attempting to qualify for NCAA Championships

MILWAUKEE - Four members of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee diving squad are set to participate in the 2006 NCAA Zone 'C' Diving Qualifying Meet this weekend at the Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on the campus of the Ohio State University. The divers will be attempting to qualify for the NCAA Championships, with the women's held March 16-18 in Athens, Ga., and the men's March 23-25, in Atlanta, Ga.

Competing for the women will be senior Erin Blemberg and juniors Crystal Szymanski and Emily Duesler. The three are coming off a very successful appearance at the Horizon League Championships, where Blemberg won both the one- and three-meter events and was named Outstanding Diver of the Meet. Szymanski earned Second Team All-League honors with a second-place showing on the three-meter board and placed fourth on the one. Meanwhile, Duesler took second place in the one-meter event and third in the three.

On the men's side, senior Jeff Jasinowski will represent the Panthers. In the three-meter diving event at the Horizon League Championships, he took fourth with 301.25 points, missing a third-place finish by a little more than three points. He placed seventh on the one-meter board. Jasinowski finished first or second 19 times on the season.

Blemberg, Szymanski and Jasinowski are making an appearance at the regionals for the second-straight season, while Duesler is making the first appearance of her career.

Saturday, March 11 at 11 a.m. - Women's 3-meter / Men's 1-meter (Simultaneous Events)
Sunday, March 12 at 11 a.m. - Women's Platform / 30-Minute Break / Men's Platform

Admission to the NCAA Zone Qualifying meet is free. Competition begins Friday at 11 a.m. with the 1-meter for the women and the 3-meter for the men.
