University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's swimmer Jenille Junco has been named Horizon League Athlete of The Week for the week of February 23, 2004.

Junco's efforts at the Midwest Classic (2/21-22) catapulted the freshman to being nominated and selected as the league's weekly award winner. Junco scored two first-place finishes Saturday afternoon for the Panther women notching wins in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke on Saturday afternoon. The Hudson native swam her 200-yard backstroke in 2:14.57 to place herself into fourth on the Panther women's swimming top times list.

"Jenille did a great job at the Midwest Classic," Panther head coach Dave Clark said. "With the meet being the last one of the season for her, she did what every athlete wants to do by ending her season on a good note."

Junco is a first-year breaststroker out of Hudson where she was a four-year letter winner in softball for Hudson High School. The freshman was also a member of the Hasa Swim Club while in high school.

This is the first time Junco has won the league's weekly award in her collegiate career.
