MILWAUKEE - Freshman Emily Holcomb has been named Horizon League Athlete of the Week for her efforts in helping to lead the Panthers to a victory in the Bill Ritter Invitational last weekend, the league office announced Tuesday. Holcomb scored 51 points as an individual in the meet, tying Jen Kedinger for most by a Panther athlete.

Holcomb, who had missed all but the first meet of the season due to injury, finished first in the 200 backstroke (2:09.86), setting a new Klotsche Center Pool record. She also finished third in the 100 backstroke (1:01.83) and fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:02.02). In addition, Holcomb was part of the winning 400 medley relay team and the second-place 400 freestyle relay team, along with the third-place 200 medley and 800 freestyle relay teams.

The Panthers return to action this weekend when they host Western Illinois in a dual meet at noon on Saturday at the Klotsche Center Pool.
