Milwaukee Women Sweep Horizon League Swimming & Diving HonorsJan. 25, 2006 MILWAUKEE - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's swimming & diving team earned a pair of weekly Horizon League honors, the league office announced Wednesday. Freshman Molly Finn was named Swimmer of the Week and senior Erin Blemberg was named Diver of the Week to give Milwaukee the sweep. The award is the second of the season for Finn, who was also named league Swimmer of the Week Oct. 19. It's the sixth time this season for Blemberg, who is the only league diver to be chosen for the award more than once this season. She has been tabbed as the Diver of the Week in six of the 11 times the award has been given out, also being recognized as League Diver of the Week Jan. 18, Nov. 22, Nov. 9, Nov. 1 and Oct. 16 earlier this season. Finn earned three victories at the Bill Ritter Invitational, leading the Panther women to a team title. She took first in the 200 IM (2:09.79), the 400 IM (in a pool-record time of 4:34.63) and the 200 butterfly (2:09.11). She swam with four relay teams on the weekend, helping UWM to victories in both the 400 medley (3:57.74) and the 400 free relay (3:34.49). She also swam with the second place 200 free relay and third place 800 free relay squads. Blemberg helped lead the way for the UWM diving team at the Bill Ritter Invitational. For the fifth time this season, she won both diving events at the same meet, earning victories on the one-meter board with 254.65 points and the three-meter board with 264.10. Today's awards are the eleventh and twelfth of the season for the women's swimming & diving team. Junior Emily Duesler (Diver of the Week Oct. 26), senior Julie Olson (Swimmer of the Week Oct. 12) and junior Lindsay Caldwell (Swimmer of the Week Dec. 7 and Nov. 22) have also been honored by the Horizon League in addition to the six times Blemberg and two times Finn have been chosen.
