Duesler Paces UWM Women At Miami (OH) InvitationalDec. 1, 2006
OXFORD, Ohio - Senior Emily Duesler took second place to lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's diving team on Friday night at the Miami (OH) Invitational. The Panthers are participating at the three-day event with just their diving team, joining 10 other full swimming/diving squads at the meet. UWM competed in only the three-meter diving event, just one of 22 events on the day. Duesler recorded 268.25 points in the finals, taking second by just over 12 points to Melissa Roemmele of Miami (OH). She scored 266.45 points in the preliminaries. "Emily did a nice job tonight," UWM diving coach Todd Hill said. "The top two spots turned into a fight all night and it was good to see her do better in the finals than in the preliminaries." Freshman Rachel Grimm just missed out on the finals, taking ninth with 228.05 points. Junior Megan McLoone was 12th with 221.85 points. The platform diving event, originally scheduled for Thursday night, was cancelled yesterday. The Panthers will finish the meet tomorrow with the one-meter diving event.
