MUNCIE, Ind. - Senior Lindsay Caldwell and sophomore Molly Finn both had a first and second place individual finish on the day to lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's swimming & diving team to a second place showing at the Doug Coers Invitational.

Host Ball State took home the team title with 882 points, topping the 638.5 total of the Panthers. IPUPI rounded out the meet in third with 238.5 points.

"This was a tough two days for us," UWM head coach Dave Griffore said. "I was very pleased with how the team battled. There wasn't a long list of highlights but there were no disappointments either."

Caldwell had a busy day, winning the 100 freestyle, finishing second in the 200 free and taking part in the 200 medley, 800 free and 400 free relay teams. Finn won the 200 butterfly, took second in the 400 IM and was also a member of the 200 medley relay squad.

Caldwell won the 100 free in 53.08 after going 1:58.23 in the 200 free. In addition, each of the relays she was on finished in second place.

"Lindsay has been sick and was not healthy," Griffore said. "She did pretty good considering the circumstances."

Finn took second in the 400 IM, touching the wall in a time of 4:41.80. She topped the field in the 200 fly in a season-best time of 2:09.08.

"Molly's 200 fly was a battle the whole way," Griffore said. "It was great to see her pull that one out."

Other top finishers for Milwaukee included senior Emily Duesler, sophomore Kristina Hansen and freshmen Shannon Berndt.

Duesler placed third in the three-meter diving event (247.10 points), Hansen was third in both backstroke events (1:02.25 in the 100 and 2:14.06 in the 200), while Berndt took second in the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:29.15 after placing third in the 100 breast (1:08.33).

"It's good to have a meet like this at this time of the year," Griffore said. "We just need to get back to town, get healthy and prepare for the next big meet."

That next big meet is the Wheaton Invitational, scheduled for December 1-2 in Wheaton Ill.
