YPSILANTI, Mich. - Junior Molly Finn and freshman Kelsey Ogle led the way for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's swimming & diving team Saturday against Eastern Michigan. The Eagles, two-time defending champs of the MAC, won each of the swimming events on the day to drop the Panthers, 147-88.

"We swam a lot better today," UWM head coach Dave Griffore said. "We weren't expecting to beat the MAC champs, but wanted to give them a competitive meet. We know we are 0-3, but we have only been in the water for six weeks and swam against some very good competition."

Finn earned a second-place showing in the 200 butterfly, where her time of 2:09.24 was touched out of a victory by less than half a second.

Ogle paced the squad in the distance events, taking second in the 500 freestyle in a time of 5:17.60. She was also third in the 200 free in a time of 1:59.12.

With the Eastern Michigan divers not competing today, the Panthers were able to take first through fourth place on both boards. Junior Ashley Hall led the way, winning both diving events, including a point total on the three-meter that was an NCAA Zone qualifying tally.

Following Hall (231.96 points) on the one-meter was freshman Lauren Roy in second (226.12), sophomore Rachel Grimm third (216.21) and senior Megan McLoone in fourth (214.74).

On the three-meter, Hall's zone-qualifying total was 295.51, followed by Grimm (253.87), McLoone (237.45) and Roy (228.45).

The Eagles were impressive, led by Erin Rhoades, Catherine Lee Ha and Sheila Carson, who each posted two victories apiece on the day. Rhoades captured the 500 and 1,000 freestyle races, Lee Ha won the 50 and 100 freestyle races and Carson won the 200 IM and 200 breaststroke.

It was also Griffore's first return to Ypsilanti, Mich., as a head coach after spending six years on the EMU staff as an associate coach, assistant coach and graduate assistant.

The women return home today, with the diving team heading to Chicago, Ill., Sunday for the UIC Diving Invitational. The meet gets underway at 10 a.m. with the Panthers looking to defend back-to-back team titles.
